An online GP (also called an online doctor) is a Medical Council of Ireland–registered doctor you meet by secure video instead of travelling to a surgery. GPLine provides nationwide video consultations for non-emergency care — with fees shown before you pay, and sick certs or prescriptions only where clinically appropriate after a genuine consultation.
The exact consultation fee is shown clearly when you book — the price you see is the price you pay. Prescriptions, sick certs and referral letters are included where clinically appropriate. There are no subscriptions or hidden admin fees. Medication itself is paid separately to your pharmacy. Standard GP visits typically start from €45; sick certs from €30.
Yes. After a genuine video consultation, if the GP considers a medical certificate clinically appropriate, your cert is emailed the same day as a PDF showing the doctor's name and IMC registration — accepted by many Irish employers and colleges. Certs are never issued without a real doctor–patient consultation, and never as a guaranteed product at booking.
For many conditions, yes — prescriptions are issued where clinically appropriate and sent electronically to your chosen Irish pharmacy. Booking does not guarantee a prescription. GPLine does not prescribe controlled drugs, sedatives, sleeping tablets or medications with a risk of dependence.
